What is the most important thing in life?
- Timmy D. of VoV
Dear Timmy D.,
It depends somewhat on the life. Since we put in this door, we have seen lots of wishes from many people, for love, happiness, peace, money, and many other desires, each of great importance to the one wishing for it. For us, we are constantly at work on the thriving of nature, the green things and life cycles around the turning seasons and for us this has been of the greatest import. But lately it has occurred to us that even our natural wonders would not be quite the same without their fringe of dusty cities; that no one looks upon a grazing deer with as much wonder as a human sometimes does; and that the ecologies that have formed around vacant lots and highway shoulders are no less alive than those of the deepest jungle. And not that each thing is equally as important as each other thing, but just as day would be meaningless without night, we think it may be that the most important thing is the allness and interconnection of everything. Nothing is ultimately complete without everything else; thus to blow adrift one dandelion seed can sway the furthest star.
